Fixed Age Values shows the historical distribution of market values for different generic vessel types and ages (with intra-year[ds_preview] depreciation removed). The data on Fixed Age Values for five year old VLCC tankers and for for five year old Capesize between mid-1992 and mid-2017 show a somewhat unnatural high of bulker and tanker values in 2008 when they more than tripled compared to average values oft he years before. In late 2008 one can observe a steep fall – down to low values or just down to normal?

Fixed Age Values for five year old Post-Panamax container vessels show a different picture. While these ships have not seen gains as big as the Capesize bulker and VLCC segments, they dropped below normal in late 2008 and still seem unstable.
