Fincantieri handed the »Seabourn Encore« o[ds_preview]ver to Seabourn Cruise Line, a brand of Carnival Corporation. The ceremony took place today at the Marghera shipyard (Venice).

»Seabourn Encore« is 40,350 gross tons, 210 m long and 28 m wide and is able to reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It carries up to 600 guests in 300 spacious suites featuring a private veranda. Every guest will receive an extraordinary level of treatment with a nearly one-to-one staff-to-guest ratio.

The first of two ultra-luxury cruise ships ordered by Seabourn at Fincantieri is a particularly innovative project, focused on energy optimisation and minimum environmental impact, the company said.

»Seabourn Encore« will be officially christened at a ceremony in Singapore on January 7. The vessel will then depart on its Inaugural Voyage, the 10-day Gems of the Java Sea cruise, bound for Indonesia.

Fincantieri has built 75 cruise ships from 1990 to today, 62 of which for Carnival’s different brands, while other 26 are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards. The American group, thanks to the partnership with Fincantieri, is one of the major foreign investors in Italy with an overall amount, from 1990 to today, of almost 30 bill. €.
