Container freight rates on eight major routes between the US, Europe and Asia are down 2.9%. Rates on Asia-Europe and Transpacific headhaul routes continue to head south.
The World Container Index assessed by Drewry, a composite of container freight rates on eight major routes to[ds_preview]/from the US, Europe and Asia, continues to soften, but remains 103% higher than this time last year. Rates went down 2.9% to US$1350.61 per 40ft container.
The average composite index of the World Container Index assessed by Drewry for the year to date is US$1,610 per 40ft container, lower than the five-year average of $1,693 per 40ft container.
Rates on Asia-Europe and Transpacific headhaul routes continue to head south with rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam, Genoa, New York and Los Angeles declining this week.
