The world’s number one show opens its pontoons, to access the finest collection of superyachts, and air-conditioned tents, where the cream of the industry present their products and services, from 28 September to 1 October, 2016.

With limitations on the number of 120 superyachts due to the size of Monaco’s Port Hercule, MYS has to keep[ds_preview] creative to maintain its position as the world’s top superyacht show. Competition, and feedback from its 34,000 participants and visitors, keeps the MYS team from becoming complacent.

This year, for the first time, MYS introduces a Car Deck, having noted the crossover between the luxury car industry and yachts – witness Silver Arrows Marine’s new Mercedes-designed Arrow460 Granturismo and Quintessence Yachts’ Aston Martin AM37.

Car brands lined up to exhibit include Centigon (custom armour), Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce and Tesla. Car Deck comprises 230 square metres of indoor bar-lounge with prestige cars outside and ready for a test drive in town. MYS CEO Gaelle Tallarida says, »The launching of the Monaco Yacht Show’s new exhibition area for prestige automobiles is an integral part of the development strategy implemented three years ago to further enhance the show’s ultra-high-level offering and thereby attract a new wealthy audience, both regional and international, to the quays of Port Hercules.«

An awards gala party will also take place on the eve of the show and Monaco Yacht Summit, a conference limited to just 50 invitees, comprising owners, potential future owners and their representatives. The format has been revised from its inaugural one in 2013 and will be organized by Yacht Investor and Global Partnership Family Office. Thematic workshops run by expert speakers aim to discuss various aspects of superyachting today.

On the yacht front, brokers Burgess have the largest berth reserved for the 90m, three-masted schooner “Athena”, along with six other brokerage boats. Edmiston also has seven yachts, as yet unnamed, one more than other big brokerage houses Fraser Yachts and Camper & Nicholsons. Builders Benetti will unveil their new 63.5m and Amels a 74m, while Heesen’s 70m »Galactica Super Nova« is likely to cause a stir, its biggest yacht to-date.

»Inukshuk«, a 32.6m Baltic Yachts sailing yacht, that has won many awards and was project-managed by Marine Construction Management, is likely to attract »real yachtsmen« prospective purchasers, alongside Nautor’s Swan’s new 35.2m »Shamanina« – a brand celebrating its 50th anniversary. Perini Navi’s 70m ketch »Sybaris« will appeal to sailors looking for motor yacht comfort without the fuel costs.

Looking for a marina berth? Port Adriano in Ibiza and One Ocean Port Vell in Barcelona are two marinas with exciting new clubhouses that will be exhibiting, the latter selected for the MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Brokers’ Association) charter show in April 2017. Monaco is a world leader in raising environmental awareness and the Beyond Plastic (BeMed) Initiative is a new one from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. Clean exploration-superyachting is a trend that can be spotted even amongst smaller yachts at Monaco Yacht Show.
