Maritime ropes producer and supplier, Lankhorst Ropes, has supplied international contractor Van Oord with synthetic fibre ropes and lifting slings[ds_preview], steel wire ropes and associated confections for Van Oord’s offshore wind cable-laying vessel »Nexus«. The ship will play a key part in the assembly of the 600 MW capacity Gemini wind farm in the Dutch part of the North Sea, 85km offshore of the coast of Groningen. The »Nexus« will use several Lankhorst fibre ropes such as Tipto Twelve and Gripogreen and steel wire rope Lankopack for a variety of activities during cable laying. According to Lankhorst, Tipto Twelve floating mooring rope uses the highly abrasion resistant Tipto material in a twelve strand construction to produce a rounded, stable, compact rope which is easy to handle and offers an excellent length of service life. Lankopack is a compacted multi strand, non-rotating steel wire rope for hoisting.

Lankhorst Ropes is committed to offering maritime operators sustainable ropes through its »Through Life, For Life« service. It’s said that »Through Life« provides a longer service life by careful rope planning and selection, management and predictive service life testing. In addition Lankhorst offers comprehensive rope training for an easier, safer rope handling which should reduce cost of rope management as well maintained ropes do not need to be replaced as often.

Tipto Twelve is a high performance rope eligible for the rope recycling scheme. Part of Lankhorst’s drive for greater rope sustainability, the recycling program enables maritime operators to make a significant contribution to their environmental policies. Ropes returned to Lankhorst under the conditions of rope recycling scheme may undergo testing, contributing to the companies continuing rope innovation.
