Workboat builder Dutch Workboats (DWB) from the Netherlands has built a Fast Survey Boat 8.50 for the National Marine Dredging[ds_preview] Company of Abu Dhabi. The design is 8.4m x 2.9m, featuring a moonpool and a spacious cabin of 2.85m x 1.95m x 1.95m. In addition, this vessel has an extra Onan generator to provide power for air conditioning and equipment when moored next to her mother vessel. On October 12, Cameroon survey company Locatech had already ordered a Fast Survey Boat 8.50 for the West-African waters at DWB. This order was the basis for the design of the brand new 8.5m vessel series in addition to the shipyard‘s prior 7.5m design. »Our FSB’s are standard designed with a large work desk, to make surveying as easy and comfortable as possible«, DWB says. The FSB’s have a focus on speed, with survey speeds often twice as fast as other survey boats. While the echo sounders are running, the surveyors have efficient working conditions to process the data instantly on board.
