Ocean Yield ASA announced the delivery of [ds_preview]the 49,000 dwt IMO II chemical tanker »Navig8 Tanzanite« from STX (Korea).

After being delivered from the shipyard today, the vessel commenced a 15 years »hell and high water« bareboat charter to Navig8 Chemical Tankers. The »Navig8 Tanzanite« is the eighth and final vessel to be delivered under the sale and leaseback arrangements entered into with Ocean Yield in April 2015, said Navi8.

Only a few days ago the Lars Stolbakken-led norwegian ship owner took delivery of the first vessel of the new ECO STAR 36k type, »GasChem Beluga«. The design was developed under the lead of German ship owner Hartmann Reederei.

»GasChem Beluga« was initially planned to be utilized with two sister vessels, »GasChem Narwhal« and »GasChem Orca« under a long-term time charter to Saudi SABIC Petrochemicals for the transportation of Ethane between Houston and Tees.

A few weeks ago it was announced, that the third vessel of the series had been cancelled in agreement with SABIC and Hartmann. Ocean Yield plans to invest the 16.2 mill. $ prepayment in other projects.

Ocean Yield ASA has now taken delivery of seventeen vessels so far this year, increasing the fleet from 14 vessels on the water as of end 2015 to 31. Ocean Yield has another three vessels under construction, bringing the total fleet to 34 vessels.

CEO Lars Solbakken said in a comment: »2016 has been a year with significant growth for Ocean Yield driven by the delivery of 17 vessels. The deliveries will contribute to further growth in earnings and dividend capacity in 2017«.
