A former leading manager of DP World moves[ds_preview] to Poland: Cameron Thorpe started as as new CEO for the container terminal DCT Gdansk.

He took over the position of Maciek Kwiatkowski, who is retiring after contributing to the development of the growing port »by finalizing one of the largest projects in Pomerania – the construction of the second berth (T2)«, DCT Gdansk said in a statement.

Cameron brings with him 30 years’ experience in the container shipping and terminal industries. In 2003 he joined DP World as Global Business Development Manager, »becoming involved in the evaluation of over a dozen container terminals around the world as the company rapidly expanded«, it was said.

In 2005 he was appointed General Manager for Constanta Container Terminal in Romania. When the P&O Group was acquired by DPW in 2006 he moved to Australia, to become Director and General Manager in Brisbane. His next position in 2009 was in Thailand as Chief Executive Officer of LCIT, a joint-venture terminal at Laem Chabang, then in 2013 he accepted the role of Managing Director of DP World Korea and Vice President of PNC, Korea’s largest container terminal. In early 2015 Cameron moved to London Gateway in the UK where he became the CEO. However, there he left after only three months at the helm to leave the DP World.

»I’m very excited by the opportunity that DCT presents – a container terminal that is helping to drive the Polish economy to be more efficient, with a global reputation as the most professional facility in the Baltic Sea. With our T2 facility now open, we will further enhance our excellent customer service and facilitate intermodal trade as the premier hub port in the region«, Thorpe was quoted.
